2nd Convention - 2016
On this occasion, the Congress will focus on a single day at the headquarters of the UIB in Eivissa (former Comandancia) on Friday 23 September (detailed programme attached).
After the success of the first edition, held at the Centro Cultural de Jesús and the Sala de Cultura de Sant Francesc in Formentera (24-25 September 2015), AVAT and PIMEEF have considered it appropriate to hold a second Congress as it is still a very hot topic and a lively debate on current and future regulations is expected.
For the President of AVAT, Roberto San Esteban, "we have obtained speakers of great category and referents in their fields that will contribute to clarify the current state of the issue of holiday rentals and where the regulations are going to go". On the other hand, the President of AVAT considers that "in addition to interesting presentations, the debates of the afternoon session on intrusiveness and on the proposals that the political parties have generated a great expectation".
In the talks on Friday morning, Juan Franch Fluxà will analyse the current legal situation and various possibilities for regulatory developments. María Sobrino will present the point of view of the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) on the phenomenon of collaborative tourism, which is tending towards a progressive liberalisation of different economic activities. María Antonia Truyols, Director of the Balearic Islands Tax Agency, will present the implementation of the Tourist Tax on housing and the actions of her agency in the coming months. Finally, Francisco Ribas will present the problems of the tourism inspectorate with regard to the marketing of their properties by owners (whether or not they are subject to legalisation).
